We just read ”The Fall Of A City” by Alden Nowlan in our writing class. This story was pretty much about a boy creating his own world like he wanted it to be. He played with ”paper dolls” like his uncle told him and because of stereotypes he got made fun of for being girly. After he got made fun of the tearing of his paper dolls and cardboard palace was a symbolism of him trying to fit the male stereotypes just like his uncle want him to. And it makes him upset that they don’t even ask about it and never consider he is just playing a game he enjoys. He gets self-esteem because they make fun of him.
